Ciclotte × NOHRD is a collaboration that marries Milanese design and German craftsmanship. Conceived by designer Luca Schieppati, the Ciclotte finds its lineage in the monowheel designs of the early 19th century whilst pioneering advanced mechanical research into epicycloid transmission systems. The result is a piece of fitness equipment that resembles more of a sculpture rather than indoor bike, whilst incorporating a dual satellite gear systems at the forefront of mechanical innovation. This imitable design has been exhibited including at Salone del Mobile, Maison & Objet, Venice Biennale, and Milano Triennale, becoming a ‘discussion tool’ as Philippe Daverio puts, for design technology in contemporary living.

21ST CENTURY ICON

Inspired by the single track monowheels featuring a large, hollow wheel with a propulsion mechanism attached to the interior of the vehicle, the Ciclotte bike is a compelling manifesto for contemporary design. Evolving from the 'Ciclò' project by Milanese designer Luca Scieppati, the bike features a slender unicycle chassis and unique pronged handlebars to support optimal riding ergonomics. This inimitable design has been admitted to the permanent collection at La Triennale di Milano, cementing it as an icon of 21st century design.

PLANETARY TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

The Ciclotte features a dual satellite epicycloid transmission system containing a copper ring which generates an electrical field that is, in turn, resisted by the magnets surrounding its circumference. Developed from breakthrough mechanical function research, it is designed to reproduce the sensation of on-road racing, bringing you the momentum of outdoor cycling within the convenience of your own home.

TECHNICAL MATERIALS

Developed in collaboration with Lamiflex SpA., a leading manufacturer of composite materials for aeronautical, automotive, and medical heavy industries, the Ciclotte x NOHRD is a study in material engineering. Featuring advanced technical materials such as carbon fibre handlebars and composite alcantara saddle for performance, the application of solid wood in this collaboration retains the natural warmth– an earmark of NOHRD design.

DESIGNED FOR THE HUMAN BODY

INTUITIVE MOVEMENT

Every rotation of the outer wheel is designed to precise biomechanical proportions, with the pedals positioned closer to the saddle to encourage correct alignment which reduces strain on hips and lower back of the rider. This geometry is designed not only to look good but encourages intuitive movement no matter which position the rider assumes, thereby reduces excessive kinetic stress on the body during intensive training sessions.

CUSTOMISABLE FINISH

GEARBOX COVER

The peddling mechanism is purposefully designed so that the outer wheel may be removed to reduce noise level during intensive training sessions. The gearbox covers can be customised to the material of your wish, allowing your Ciclotte to feel at home in any setting. From the office to the pool, this compact design will fit in anywhere yet is guaranteed to never go unnoticed.

HANDS-FREE TRAINING

Equipped with Bluetooth, the NOHRD Ciclotte allows you to sync training apps such as Kinomap, Zwift, and Rouvy, transforming each session into an immersive cycling experience.
